{loving you} ashley + roger

Oh my. It’s been a long long time since I’ve been on here. With everything else happening in life (editing, barista competitions, travelling, family, coffee life, and on and on) I have been remiss with blogging.

To start down the road of sharing some of the STUNNING couples I photographed this year, here’s Ashley and Roger’s wedding at the Calgary Zoo. When I chatted with Ashley and Roger for the first time I noticed two things: Ashley’s beautiful smile and the way Roger lit up when she smiled. These two clearly love each other. And not only that, they love their friends and family.

When Ashley told me the wedding was at the zoo she was adamant that she didn’t want photos that “looked like they were taken at the zoo”. After their lovely, short, morning ceremony, we went immediately into a brunch reception (my favourite kind!) and enjoyed a relaxing time with everyone that was there. Later that night, A+R hosted an all out bash at their cozy condo in Mission, partying home style and big. I love that idea!

These two are very sweet. Ashley made a lot of details for the wedding herself. But most importantly, it really was just about a celebration with their best friends and family around them!

Above: Thanks to the talented Cindy Robert who helped me out with this wedding and took many fantastic shots, including the one above!

{exploring love} market collective

This weekend, I’m participating in one of Calgary’s best markets, Market Collective which meets in the old Ant Hill building in Kensington. Stop by and see some of the amazing talent in our city, say hi, or buy a print. Your support would mean so much to me.

Also, if you join their Facebook page they’re giving away a $50 gift certificate to one lucky follower once they reach 1500 fans! Go here to follow them.

See you there!

{sneak peek} nicole + mike

A beautiful fall day. A quirky, charming couple. A mountain background. Thankful for all the amazing couples I photographed this year and a lovely last wedding of the season yesterday.

{exploring love} waterton polaroid photography

Today I had a fantastic day driving down to beautiful Waterton National Park with my good friend Andy. I am constantly amazed at how beautiful this country that I live in is. After a few rolls of film and lots of kilometres I’m happy to share a few polaroid shots I took today. I hope they captured even an ounce of the beauty.

{loving you} nadia + greg — lake louise mountain wedding

Earlier this year I had the honour of photographing Nadia & Greg’s beautiful mountain wedding. I have to say, it remains one of the most easy-going, beautiful, fun weddings I have been a part of.

Meet the lovely Nadia + Greg.

{exploring love} new york city on film — travel photography

I must say that capturing New York City’s insatiable spirit on film is not easy. And then to try and do it with traditional black & white film I feel like it’s impossible. The city is full of colour. But when you take a step back and focus on the faces, the textures, the movement, the light, it’s like another place entirely. Again, I hope this shows just part of the city that I absolutely fell in love with and cannot wait to visit again soon.

I will be planning some trips to NYC from London in the new year so don’t hesitate to get in touch with me for photo sessions if you’re from New York too.

Makes me wish I shot more b&w like my pal Brittany.

{exploring love} new york city in colour — travel photography

I honestly do not know what to write about my experience with New York. The city is everything and nothing like you would ever expect. I was there in May and everything was green. Brooklyn was full of parks and families and everyone walking down the streets. Like a bunch of small communites all bumping into each other. A mix of wildflowers and history and new stories and old ones and love and hope. All in one place. The mix was magical and I could have wandered endlessly, watching lives lived out, giving my big dreams to the buildings surrounding me.

Words can’t describe it but I hope you get a taste from these photos. Prints will be available in my Etsy shop soon. Follow me on Twitter and check back for more info!

{sneak peek} katie + david — calgary fish creek park wedding

I should be packing right now to finish my move to a new place tomorrow. Instead, I couldn’t wait to share one from Katie and David’s elegant summer wedding at The Ranche in Fish Creek Park today. We found some shade from the hot afternoon sun and we got this shot.

Thank you again Katie and David for letting me be a part of this very special day! I am in love with how much you make each other laugh and your excitement to share your life with each other. You’re both charming and lovely to be around!

{sneak peek} ashley + roger — calgary zoo wedding

How lucky am I to have the most gorgeous, easy-to-photograph couples this summer?

Seriously, this wedding was just magic from the moment I walked into their beautiful condo with their stunning new kitchen. Congrats again Ashley and Roger! I’m so happy for you and was so blessed to be a part of your beautiful day.
